It’s Official: Entry-Level Driver Training Rule Delayed Two Years

Posted February 3, 2020

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued an interim final rule delaying the effective date of the Entry-Level Driver Training rule from February 7, 2020 to February 7, 2022.

The delay will give FMCSA more time to get its Training Provider Registry (TPR) up and running. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training providers will use the site to ensure compliance with all aspects of the rule.

Despite the delay, training providers are advised to continue their compliance efforts, as the curriculum changes in the rule are substantial. It will take training entities significant time to implement the new requirements
